Yep; did that. And framed out the drawing with a green-grass bottom and blue border for sky. The space in between sky and grass was the white paper, where one would draw.
I was never that stereotypical in drawing birds further away. So I would give them different places where the wings flap. No real detail, just a difference to make it look more realistic.
When I was young, my mom had the FBOFW anthology with this strip. My older sis and I hated Liz for ruining her Dawn’s landscape. She could have demonstrated elsewhere so that Dawn would have a choice about whether to include them. Now as an adult, I don’t feel as strongly toward Elizabeth, but I do agree with my younger self: just because you think it’s good does not give you the right to mess with other’s property. It’s a lot like graffiti. :(

A few notes:
1.Happy Canada Day!
2.Lizzie gets what she deserves with the paint water. She was like, “Dawn has a glass of grape juice! Don’t mind if I do!”
3.As for the m-birds, I sense a strange McDonald’s marketing scheme, judging from the shape of those "m"s.

I’ll admit that I still draw my birds as “m-birds.”

My birds looked like “V’s” starting and ending with a gentle curve.

If you want to see the ancestors of the “M” bird, just check a BC comic strip: https://www.gocomics.com/bc/2018/06/22

Elizabeth was right. The M-birds do enhance the picture.
