It’s not that far from the realm of possibility that a future generation of school kids will cease to learn this skill due to the labor intensive and environmental negativity of the writing process.
The mail system here in Ecuador, leaves a lot to be desired but I still write an occasional letter to old friends in other parts of the world.
My grandchildren, here, will hand deliver thank-you notes to their abuela and me, often with a little art work included. I treasure these and am proud of their parents for encouraging them.
I am retired from a life spent in the Metals Trades, beginning in a blacksmith shop in a shipyard, and ending being a “Value Added Supervisor” in “Silicon Valley” building computers for the tech industry….Every thing from ship parts to high tech precision Machined parts in between….If I was working today I would not hire anybody who could not explain in a hand written essay in cursive why I should hire them….or waste my time with them to begin with…
Still write letters, cards, my journal and take notes on paper generally with an ink pen.
I have a niece and nephew in their late 20s – it was only after my suggestion that they switched to emailed thank yous for gifts from writing with ink on paper for same. And my nephew, like me, is not know for his handwriting.

What is a “Prima”? I wish there were a translation when they use Spanish in this strip. My HS Spanish is long gone.

What is this writing of which she speaks? Is she one of the ancients who scribed hieroglyphs onto paper in the distant past?
