I am no fan of Roseanne, but the liberal left totally alienated me in 1972, right after my discharge from military service, with their endless “You simply should have known better than to go in.” lectures. The U.S. government had a military draft and their Selective Service System very selectively went after lower-income whites and all nonwhites. The local draft board in my home town, actually attempted to draft me out of the second semester of my junior year in college, because of my brown skin. It was successfully appealed, but I ended up enlisting out of less than 3 months of grad school, because my II-S deferment was cancelled.
Forgive and forget? HELL NO! NEVER AGAIN! NEVER! NEVER! NEVER AGAIN!
^^Poor, poor Daniel…If in all these years your grudge against anti-war sentiment is still causing your belly ache, I hope you can stomach the acid reflux generated by Rump and his henchmen.
^^Daniel, I don’t think what happened over 45 years ago, bad as it was, is any kind of excuse to allow the Rump and his brain washed followers to run your country into the ground.
The socalled “Liberal Media” Fired Rob Rogers, so that is why you don’t see him here anymore. The socalled “Liberal Media” is another right wing LIE!!!
Daniel, You are absolutely right about the hatred of the Viet Nam war, although I think it was more universal than just liberals- mainly the draft age people objected to dying in a war they didn’t believe in, regardless of their other political ideas. But many of my white school mates were also drafted and I am aware of several who died there. If there was any bias in the selective service, it was because those who were in school were exempted and more white kids were able to afford to go to college, had a family tradition that expected them to, and were able to pay doctors to find bone spurs that exempted them from service. I gag a little when current veterans who are all volunteers are thanked for their service. My brother (drafted) and my dad ( career Air Force) ( and both white) served in Viet Nam, and were advised to change into civvies before getting off the plane when they came home to avoid being spit on by protesters.
I protested the war,not the soldiers. My number,at age 17,was 12.Number at 18,was 200.The draft was being phased out by 72.I heard horrible stories from my brother in law,who served in the early 60’s ;(
Daniel Jacobson, never heard stories about “liberals” asking why anyone agreed to go to Vietnam. My family was always liberal and I remember my brother and brother-in-law being very concerned about their draft numbers. Both were in college and are white.
Between your attacks on liberals because of something you are claiming happened 46 years ago, you state you didn’t vote for Trump but wasted your vote on “none”. As an election judge I can tell you that any write-in votes are counted only if they are on a pre-approved list.
Did you vote for Bush 43? He was in TX National Guard to escape the draft; daddy pulled strings to get him in. Then Bush 43 sent the National Guard to Iraq and Afghanistan. BTW, the stories about him being AWOL are probably true, the Dan Rather thing always sounded like a Karl Rove set-up to me.
Those that evaded the draft by going to Canada were pardoned by Jimmy Carter, one of those “liberals”.
The thing about liberals is that there is a HUGE variety of POVs. Condemnation of an entire group because of what you say happened to you 46 years ago while the RW wants to start more wars seems short-sighted.

It’s amazing how much her silhouette looks like Trump’s.
