    My in-laws were with my kids this past June for 2 1/2 weeks, and it didn’t work out for the opposite reason. I try to raise my kids to be independent and responsible, but my mother-in-law treats them like babies and hovers over them too much. It drives my kids nuts, and they weren’t too happy.

    I think that would be my in-laws too. I love them, but she is a bit of a worry-wart and a hoverer.

    Hoveering to be sure they aren’t doing what they’re not supposed to be doing, and not breaking any antiques.

    I agree with some of you. Some young people spoil their kids with lots of stuff. What the kids could use more is the time the grandparents can spend with them- especially if they get to visit often enough to really make a difference.
