An optimist feels that this is the best of all possible worlds. A pessimist is afraid the optimist is right.

One true thing about myself. I dislocated my shoulder playing football without pads. A hit popped it out, but I fell on that shoulder and partially popped it back in. Unfortunately, the “doctors” said it was a “stinger” and sent me home with some pills. The shoulder hurt badly for 2 more years before I accidentally popped it the rest of the way back in one morning.

    Best day of my life.

One true thing about me. I have 33 brothers and sisters. Two of them are from my mom, and 31 from my dad. I only have half-brothers. My oldest sister is Argentine, and about four years younger than my mother. I have siblings in Colombia, Honduras, USA, and Spain, at least that I know of. My dad was very handsome.

I am proud, thrilled, and excited no end to be able to bring you the actual “ARNOLD EHRET’S Mucusless-Diet Healing System”, online. You will now be able to cure your cancers, your bad hearts, your life-destroying illnesses - all caused by constipation (see - you didn’t even know THAT much, did you?). No, no thanks are necessary - I do this out of my love for humanity.

Constipation: A clogging up of the entire pipe system of the human body.

Here I must apologize, Teresa - there is nothing actually “true” about me…

Not even my alleged “love of humanity”.

One true thing: once, a very long time ago, while working as a night janitor at a large shopping mall in Pennsylvania, I smoked a leafy, green illicit substance in the empty enclosed hall. Leaving some paraphernalia in plain sight, I then went out into the beautiful spring evening and climbed a tree, just to … enjoy it. Along came a police officer and tested the mall entrance door to make sure it was locked, but of course I’d forgotten to lock it. Suddenly quite straight, I called out to him in the friendliest terms, that I was indeed up in the tree, an idiot, and not breaking any law, just enjoying a lovely air of a spring evening. (Deep breath … all was well.) I laughed for several consecutive hours afterward.

BTW, thanks for linking me up: http://bassoprofundo1.blogspot.com/

One true thing: Being fifth generation Californian, my family (Moms side-Reed) was part of the Donner Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donner_Party) that attempted a crossing of the Sierra Nevadas into California that ran into much difficulty and (some members) resorted to cannibalism to stay alive.

Re book burning- does anyone else see two people making whoopie on one page and half a face on the other?

    1 true thing.

In grad school I had a mascot, a Gumby which I glued a little mortarboard (graduation hat) on his head. I brought him to my thesis defense and had him sit on a desk.

When I took my comps, my professor told me not to bring Gumby. The night before my comps I went to the room where it was scheduled and him Gumby when only I could see it.

Not sure if it counts. I just wanted a place away from the go-comics overlords where we could post comments about the blog.

    So, hopefully with your permission:

One true thing (also relates to today’s FB):

As a kid I occasionally got to ride on the back of a Galapagos tortoise about three times the size of the one pictured in the Blog. I’d suspend an overripe apricot or banana on a stick out in front of his/r (?) nose to activate the less-than-E-ticket-ride! The estate (a wealthy estate our family grocery business delivered weekly call-in orders to) where this happened also had peacocks and other exotic animals to see.

“Lorenzo de’ Medici, the patron of 3 point perspective art, had no depth perception himself.”

That’s right, but he had Samantha Argus of Safe Havens to teach him.
