Oh, Geez . . . not yet another Sunday strip featuring Danae . . . Oh, how we long for the return of a long overdue & truly funny Cap’n Eddie – i.e. – as in a non-politicized version . . . Puh-Leez, Wiley, just try to make us “Laugh” again !!!
What is it with comic strip characters named Lucy sending children flying through the air followed by abrupt and unpleasant landings? Don’t give that horse a football.
Beautiful, Wiley, just beautiful. About 30 years ago, that would have been my little “Danae” on her Welsh Mountain Pony, dashing through our pasturage and woods. The only difference, Storm Dancer was a lady. She was blind, and trusted Jen implicitly never to take her where she would get hurt. Jen never did, and oddly enough Stormy still could ‘sense’ when there was danger to her or her rider. I have seen her start to go under a low branch, and then stop dead in her tracks until she felt her rider’s weight shift forward, indicating to her that the rider had leaned forward to clear the obstacle. Unless she was ‘showing’ Stormy, Jen mostly rode bareback with no bridle. She cued Stormy with her knees.
Then again, on a hot day I have seen Stormy launch out and fling herself and her mistress headlong into the center of the 8’ deep pool in our creek. The pair would emerge, Stormy clean and shining silver white, Jen clinging to her mane like a little half-drowned chipmunk while verbally berating Stormy but grinning from ear to ear. Stormy would just prance on along with her head up high, like the princess she was.
First time I took a fall from my horse, was a sudden stop from speed. He was horrified, and after no cookies or treats for half an hour, has been very careful not to let me fall if he can possibly help it. Had him eleven years now, an off the track thoroughbred, and fallen off 5 times. I’m good, but not that good. He doesn’t want to get on my bad side, so no falling off, and if there’s a fall, he never goes anywhere, just stands there staring in horror.

I can relate, Danae, horses and summer are both fun, and can catch you off guard if you’re not paying attention.

I’m not sure I follow. What order was Lucy referring to?

If you have ever been owned by a horse, you would understand. Otherwise, just hang on for the ride!

You give a horse aids. You don’t give them orders. My mare would be offended.

Summer Break is almost over in Arizona. In some districts, school resumes Tuesday next. (That’s July 23rd)

The frog is doing what comes naturally and looks orangish not pink to me.

Danae for President! Given current circumstances, she doesn’t even have to wait to grow up.

. . . doesn’t the frog, look more like a light mauve in color? I think, @Wiley is mixing colors to confuse us! That’s mean! lol! :)

On my screen, the frog appears bright pink, with a yellow tongue. I think different monitors show things in different colors sometimes.
