One time, many years ago, Hubby put Chinese mustard on an egg roll. We all watched him, figuring he knew what he was doing. You know the cartoons where the guy’s eyes bug out, his nose runs, and the wax melts from his ears? It happens in real life, too.
I have to be extremely careful when I cook with chilies and other hot and spicy ingredients. Over the years, I have build up a tolerance for heat and love very hot and spices dishes.
Unfortunately, the rest of my family is not so inclined, so often, like when I’m cooking up a batch of chili, I wind up making two different kinds. The ‘spicy’ for me and the bland ( in my opinion ) for everyone else.
My wife did something like this when we were first married. Recipe called for 3 teaspoons of cayenne pepper, she put in 3 tablespoons. I barely ate it, she only sampled it, but the buddy from Texas we had over that night said it was just about right.

Had this happen to me once. It was in a Tex-Mex restaurant with a Creole chef.
