probably takes a lot of scratch to buy the meat. You scratch the Butcher’s back, he’ll scratch yours. (Probably with one of his/her knives)Don’t assume the Butcher is male.
After the last two strips, I’m wondering what the rats actually are. Can anyone recall any time ever where the rats are shown with “buck teeth”? Other rodent and lagomorph types are shown with them…some quite large. Holly had them, Jacob has them, other characters have them…but the “rats” don’t. At least that I can recall. Anyone else see this?
Find it interesting that the rats are so helpful now … Even if they need to find the people behind this you would think they were would be more eager to just lobotomize the population or something, or they might not give a damn as long as it “functions”.
The rats are helpful because finding the Butcher and other assorted cohorts will settle things down in Endtown. They could follow through with their threat to kill off all but a handful of lobotomized individuals, but that would make the town more difficult to manage in the long run. Unless there are more automated systems than we’ve seen thus far, and then I’d question the point of Endtown’s existence.
It seems Jacob has calmed down and now is resolved more than ever to get to the bottom of this “cannibalism conspiracy”.
Apparently none of the Rats are involved…. are they that separate from the rest of the Endtown society or no one dared approached one to see if they wanted a hot dog?
I shudder to think how many smokehouses there really are in Endtown. I can’t imagine this mystery group sacrificing the only one just to frame Philo Foxworthy.
I can’t help but think back to when Aaron Marx revived Flask as the Duchess, paying the engineers to keep working on what was to become Endtown. Were smokehouses really part of the original scheme of things?
As this is Topsider technology, I wonder what their interrogations of mutants in the past yielded. Probably not much, since mutant brains get used more routinely for appliances, so they’re obviously not prized anymore for the information they contain.
The Rats, shown here in their actual, normal interactive state (not bullying prisoners) are seen to be quite intelligent, helpful and capable. Of course, these two technicians, trained for years in analyzing neural pathway reports, are perhaps a higher caliber than those normally assigned as prison guards.
What happened to all the meat, I mean wolves, who were put in the “bonewagon” Dec 18 2017? Did the rats butcher and smoke them, just toss them in the lake, or bury them in the garbage dump for the other butchers to dig up and process into food?

What if there’s more than one butcher?

Where is that one really tough rat that schooled Jacob that he really isn’t in charge (especially if he fails to keep things peaceful like)?

Maybe most Endtowners don’t eat meat but retain their human likes of being vegan or vegetarian.

Jacob, are you ready to go down the rabbit hole?
