Well, this proves Puck is more “patriotic kitty” than Bagheera ever was. First year we had him, all he got was a red-white-and-blue ribbon tied to his collar.
And, really, Puck, who better than you to remind us there is nothing more American than eating things that that may not be good for us- because it’s a holiday…
We’ve had multiple cats who will cheerfully clean any mayo based dressing off the potato salad and one who would also eat the mustard based ones. The other cats regarded these “food” offerings as disgusting. None of them had any interest in German potato salad or eating the actual potatoes once the dressing was removed.
And yes, learning that some of the cats would help us eat the potato salad resulted in an offering to the backyard wildlife and future potato salads guarded more closely, but seriously, why would a cat eat potato salad?
But you can never count on a cat to be consistent, right? I mean, just when you think she wont, she will. Our Megan will lick the mayo off the potato, then eat the potato…
We always have bowls of fresh fruit out on the kitchen island. Our black kitty is fascinated by grapes and cherries, not to eat but to throw on the floor and chase around the great room. Usual end is either the fruit is stepped on by a human or discovered under furniture in a shriveled dried state. The diet theory is that if you have fruit handy, you will eat it instead of junk. I, alas, have no trouble passing it by on the way to the freezer for ice cream though.
Heroes DO dare to try! Thank you to all of our heroes who have fought for us, first to those who fought to gain our freedom, then those who fought/ fight to protect it, we owe you all more than we can ever pay!!! God Bless You!!
Also, the shade looks kind of small, so I’m thinking that Pucky “borrowed” it from the bathroom?? Will The Woman even notice?
I’m sure they can eat some of what we put in our potato salad. A little egg, bacon, and mayo (you can tell me mayo isn’t good for cats but you can’t tell me there is no cat and never has been who ate mayo. We had a cat, Diggy (short for Indignant as she was named for the little indignant looks she had as a kitten) who loved to stick her paw in newly empty mayo jars if we failed to toss them right away and scrape out as much mayo as she could then lick it off her paw and go back for more. Have a picture of her doing it somewhere).
Good afternoon, orbsters and orbabies. We are finally home. Actually, we were home much earlier today, but I’ve been running around like a fat little mad thing and just now got around to the comics.
As long as there are no onions, garlic or other nasty toxic stuff in the potato salad, let the kitties eat. Mine love licking the egg/mayo/mustard blend before potatoes and rosemary are added.

Is this the first time Puck has had a retractable chart or have I just missed this in the past?

Meanwhile Elvis will shake his head “no” – unless Puck tries it and likes it. Then Elvis will have intended to try it all along.

I’m sure for Elvis the 4th of July only means one thing, but it isn’t potato salad. It’s about defending the family from attack!

My kitten loves fresh yellow squash from my garden. He has been known to take one from the pile and then chew on it while hiding.

Cats eat potato salad? I suppose so, if there are no chile rellenos available.

Perhaps not potato salad as a whole, but it’s components (mayo, olive oil, egg, bacon, (fill in your own particular recipe secret here))….

I know that Vlad, if I had a tomato plant, I wouldn’t have any tomatoes at all. He’s sniffed at the potato salad and walked away. Same with Sebastian.

Here’s a list of things that are dangerous for cats to eat: https://www.petmd.com/cat/emergency/poisoning-toxicity/e_ct_human_food_poisoning
Just so none of those appear in that potato salad, he’s good to go!
