Throughout my life, I’ve either lived in or traveled to places, where the water wasn’t drinkable. I developed the habit of drinking bottled water.
Even though they claim that the water where I live, here in Ecuador is potable, we still buy the 22 litre containers of water to drink. We do use the tap water for cooking, cleaning etc. and could probably drink it but old habits die hard.
Everyone here does the same thing, although I suspect that the $1.65 22L blue plastic jugs of “purified water” comes from the same tap water I have. Nevertheless, I dutifully, ( like every other good citizen of Machala ), buy the bottled stuff.

If you make it from hydrogen and oxygen, it’s too hot to drink for a while..
