Back when I still had a car, I took annual trips to Vancouver, BC in October to shop for Halloween candy. One time I noticed an ice cream truck was still out. It was a sunny day, but that must be the definition of an optimist: an ice cream truck driver in October in Canada.
The Skippy guy (yeah, that was the company name) used to come around in an open convertible with a giant freezer wedged in the back, if you can picture that. Playing merry-go-round style carillon music – kind of creepy, thinking back on it.
Ahhhhhh – the carefree days of being a youth in the summer. A loyal dog and enough money in your pocket for a popsicle – didn’t get much better than that. Sigh
Any of you remember a “CHARLIE’s CHIPS” truck? They’d bring these big tin cans full of chips. You’d give them the empty can and they’d take them back. Seems like they were brown trucks kind of like UPS truck. They were good potato chips.

Boy, I remember an ice cream truck like that when I was very young. Don’t see them any more. Also remember the Helm’s Bakery truck. Getting old.

Okay I made myself curious and looked them up. It was “Charles Chips”.
