Michael hates math – that is a big red flag to this sometimes math tutor. We tend to love the things we do well and hate the things we don’t. Getting As on tests instead of struggling to get Ds will change any student’s outlook. I doubt any tutor would have helped me with art or music, though. I was okay with the technical parts but I never understood either at all.
I always thought that the teacher was not doing her (or his) job if they gave homework. They always claimed it was for practice, so I never did it! When asked why I didn’t do it, I would tell them I didn’t need the practice; I already knew it! (I backed up my claim by my test scores!!)
PS to last! I use Quicken! I still balance all my accounts every month! They include two checking, a savings, a brokerage, two IRAs, and several CD’s! Do these on the a Sunday afternoon. Also credit cards and loans which I do as they come in.
But look at it this way: If you get it wrong, you get a B or C. If your dad gets it wrong, he gets an (UGH) IRS audit, overdraft fee, credit problems, etc.
You have probably noticed that the utilities and other creditors encourage you to go to auto pay plans. Avoid these! I read that a man had been (estimated) dead for 4 years in his home, and finally discovered by the cable guy, coming to disconnect him for non-payment. It seems he had everything on auto-pay, and no one gave a hoot about him until his bank account went dry!!
Ok,I don’t get this comment. Not too many people die,and go unnoticed for 4 years, and going broke when you’re dead is not a big issue, and obviously he had no one who cared for him to leave his estate to. Not fond of auto-pay plans myself, but not for that ridiculous scenario.

Ah. The good old days of paper bills, calculators and checkbooks. I don’t miss them.

I really wish Lynn would stop using “stoopid.” It sounds so slangy and uneducated. The more popular word is “dumb” or the normal “stupid.”

Well it’s homework in a manner of speaking, but usually you only need one night to pay all the bills for the month.

I’m also the one who gets to pay the bills at work.

Nothing teaches as well as experience. You’ve got a lot to learn, kiddo!

I still say homework is the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard—-35 years after the first time I said it, which was out loud to my 2nd grade teacher!

I meanwhile, chose to be a librarian. My entire working life is homework. Just not at home except for fun between house work.
