………but, thunder and lightning usually come from behind you!?!? …….and weather reports are just as accurate as news reports…..so why bother?? Just turn off the TV.
The stuff the news is full of is like a horrible auto accident. Its stomach churning, but you can’t look away. ( I know. I finished a clause with a preposition. I apologize! Bad English teacher. Bad English teacher!)
Yeah, I tune in to see who’s blowing up what, my stomach starts to turn, and off I go to something sensible. Like Men in Black of X-Files — y’know, more reflective of real life.
Living in the DC suburbs, and particularly near the airport and the major data hubs, we decided a long time ago that there would be nowhere to run. Even if we tried, traffic would prevent us from getting anywhere. So – why worry?
Huh? Whether the thunder & Lighting is in front of you or behind you depends on which way you’re facing. And as noted in the previous comment about the view from Florida there are some spectacular light shows over the Gulf of Mexico.
Reminds me of the Gary Larson cartoon of the two fishermen seeing the mushroom cloud: “I’ll tell you what this means, Norm, no size restrictions and screw the limit.”

Yep, in the 60’s & 70’s there were no computers or smart phones.
We did have the cold war, so keeping an eye on the horizon was just everyday fun. As long as it wasn’t too near. 8^!

In a nuclear war, there will be no safe place to escape. So, as Alfred E. Neuman said, “What? Me worry?”
