We live in Miami and we got an influx of mosquitoes this year. We were being bitten all night (they fly in every time we opened our front door) so after some online research I did 2 things: put tower fans up in our room facing our bed because mosquitoes are weak flyers and cannot land in a slight breeze (fan speed of med to high). And I bought a couple indoor plug-in zappers around the condo. Every week we clean them out and there are at least 6-10 mosquitoes in each of them. We haven’t had a mosquito bite since!
One of the County Commissioners in Orange County, Florida actually wants to set up nests for bats in her district, in the hope that the bats will eradicate the ‘skeeters so no chemical spraying needs to be done (there is a beautiful river and reserve area popular with both locals and tourists there). But there had been cases of rabid bats last year, so this doesn’t sound promising…

I don’t ever want to see a mosquito the size that you could put a straw through. Wow!
