luckily my Amish forefathers and some relatives thereof don’t have to worry about an electric bill… they’d just have to worry about the gas bill

I find that to be a rational fear.

I leave a low wattage bulb in a hallway going downstairs. It provide just enough light in the hose so I can see to go to the bathroom or the kitchen or where ever.

I went from paying $139 per month for electricity on a “Senior Plan” for a single person household in Florida to paying approximately $40 per mnth. on a 2 family house with 6 people in it, in Ecuador ! I still pinch pennies when it comes to the electric – running around our house turning the lights out, the televisions and computers, and fans off, when not in use.

    “Hello darkness, my old friend….”

I do not understand why people have such an aversion to paying for comfort and convenience.

I am not afraid of the dark, just the things creeping up on me unseen because of the darkness.

When one is retired, on a fixed income, and facing ever rising power costs. No one minds paying, but one does get fretful when the costs keep spiraling upwards.
