I’ll meet you halfway. I’ll put it away now, but I won’t deflate it until sundown.

It may be official in Drabbleville, but it won’t be Autumn here until late October.

If Labor Day is official, what is the autumnal equinox?

Go visit Stone Soup. I’m fairly sure that Alix will welcome another imaginative spirit in her pool today.

I want to know who decided it’s the end of summer, because I never got a vote.

Back in the day, Labor Day was about the time when school started. That was why it was the end of summer. Sorry about you younger folks. School started earlier for you.

The first week of school was always the hottest week of the summer.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere the Autumnal Equinox is September 22, so that is the OFFICIAL end of summer. Labor Day is recognized as the UNOFFICIAL end of summer. But then, Ralph is a dolt, so he gets a pass on his statement.

It depends on who is talking. The astronomical end of summer is the autumnal equinox. Meteorologists consider it to be midnight August 31. Traditional politicians consider it sunrise on Labor Day (non-traditional ones consider the campaign to be permanent).

In The US, I think it’s actually considered the “unofficial” end of summer. The same way that Memorial Day is considered the “unofficial” start of summer.

I think because it’s the last summer “holiday”…… & September starts the autumn “season” in terms of retail…..lots of pumpkin & other fall items start showing up.
