I find it very interesting to see that Michael phrases this. “an’ sees what you did to his car.” There is no hint in what Michael says that suggests he believes his mother is not responsible.

Also, with Michael, Elly is not saying the words, “I’ve been driving for over 20 years and never had an accident – it wasn’t my fault” like she did to Connie two days ago. Michael knows Elly had an accident just last year.

Oh, yes. John is acting very “even tempered and rational” at the moment.

This was a very avoidable accident. She could’ve waited for the school bus to pass to be sure there was no traffic on the other lane. But, she was awed by the sports car and didn’t pay attention to the road conditions. But, it was her fault.

In the third panel, Elly is not looking at Michael when she is addressing him, and besides that, she is walking away with her eyes closed. Could this accident has been caused by the fact she may not have been looking where she was going?

I know how people feel about vehicles sometimes but John and Elly are married so, literally and by law, it’s just as much her car as it is John’s.

If it wasn’t for little accidents – half of us wouldn’t be here!

I fully expect John to say “Forget the damn car ! Are YOU OK? Thank heaven!” Because THAT is what matters in a marriage.
