I’d like to hear less fake British accents on tv. They’re so obviously the result of the Dick Van bleeep “Teach Yourself British” correspondence course.
pcolli, I heard an interview with Dick VanDyke recently, and they brought that up. He said the studio actually hired him with a voice coach, and that he worked very hard. Problem was, the voice coach wasn’t English. He was Irish.
I once heard an interview with Chita Rivera in which she complained about the movie “West Side Story”. She had been led to believe they were going to use her voice throughout, but they replaced her with someone (Marnie Nixon maybe?) for at least one song, so Chita has had to put up for decades with “A boy like that will keeel your bruuther”.
