I hope no one objects if I offer the girl my most enthusiastic contrafibularities.

I used to ‘make up words’ in that same fashion to see if my very young sons were not only listening but able to spot the differences and to repeat them. Found out early on in my own life that one could not only learn to understand people with different accents and speech patterns but also pick up the cognates from the Romance Languages. Made life much more interesting

For Pete’s sake… the correct usage is “exquisiational.” Every eleventeenth grader knows that!

Using words with 4 or more syllables is all of those things.

I now have two favourite words, but I’m not quite sure what they mean.

I suppose many (most?) words were not words until someone decide to say them.

I must leave all this neologizing behind. It’s too yesterday. I am a strict adherent of Polyrational Subsequentialism. Do you follow?

There’s that old joke about how if you speak three languages you’re trilingual, if you speak two you’re bilingual, and if you only speak one you’re American. But I wonder if other languages can be so flamboyantly messed with as English. And by “I wonder,” I mean I don’t know, and won’t know until I learn another language or two. Alas, I am, by the joke’s standard, still very American.

Totally off topic, but there was a recent discussion here about movie car chases, and someone mentioned “The Italian Job”. I just found it at the library, and probably wouldn’t have noticed it if not for that recent mention. I just finished watching it (can’t believe I never saw it before) and thought it was great. Don’t know if “best” car chase ever, but definitely the most audacious! Also, despite being made almost 50 years ago, it didn’t feel dated or make you embarrassed for the ’60s, as so many pieces from the period can. So, whoever mentioned it, Thanks!
