The soles of our feet are at the true bottom of us, even if we’re sitting in a chair. And most assuredly so when we stand on our feet, walk, run, etc. If we sit on the floor the bottom of our feet are on the same level as our derrière.
I’ve wondered about this particular terminology for a long time. Feels good to get it off my chest. Wherever my chest is. If my butt’s my bottom, I guess my chest is my waist. And maybe it is. Maybe it turns out those old guys are the ones wearing their pants the right way.

When you sit, it’s at the bottom of your torso.

We always said “behind.” Seems to fit. Similar to German: Hintern.

Caulfield, if you’re so smart, why do you never advance a grade? It’s just taken for granted he will be with Mrs. Olsen again.

As I have said before I’d rather be a smart ass than a dumb one.

Maybe since some other options for that body part are a little more … obscene?
Nah. Too easy.
