I have a friend (OH) who sends CARE packages (filled with things mostly for the children) to a teacher she formerly assisted (MI) at the start of every school year and at holidays.
The cost of ‘back to school’ supplies can run as much as $200 per child. More for teachers who do not get reimbursed for needed supplies. Many churches collect supplies for children and teachers. How many ball point pens do you need and how many have you collected over the years? Gather them up and take to your nearest school. Teachers will love you.
During the summer we do deep cleaning of classrooms (I am a custidaton at an elementary school) and I have seen teachers there early getting thing ready for the new year. They usually have bags of things they have bought to get the school year started. They might get reimbursed for some of the supplies, but they always need more.
As an instructional aide, all I can say is, “Pencils. More pencils. Did I mention pencils? I can always use more pencils. And I love the pre-sharpened ones.”
Our church school has a wishing well adorned with cards showing what teachers need or want. Our church fills each request in about a two weeks, quit often doubling what they asked for. It is nice to see.

This is admittedly not the most important thing to comment on, but that’s the weirdest looking seat in that truck I’ve ever seen…

Too bad it has become necessary but that’s life in public education.

A case of vodka (looks like water in the glass on your desk) would have been more appropriate.

Meemaw is a very thoughtful grandmother and citizen. Glad to see so many posters have the same thoughtful people in their neighborhood.
