And that is what scares me the most about spiders: the “web – dangling – head – landing” surprise. However I have come to appreciate the fact they eat insects I hate so I always capture them in a jar and release them outside.Just don’t land on my head, please :-)
I had an outside spider that insisted on running a strand of silk from a nearby grapefruit tree to my truck. In the morning I had to break the strand and the next morning it was back. This went on for weeks.
I woke up at 2 in the morning once to get some water and when I turned the light on there was a big old spider on its web coming right down towards my face if my mouth was open it would have kept going right down my throat.
I felt something land on my head yesterday as I was walking out of the laundry. Since there were so many dragonflies buzzing around, that’s what I figured it was. Brushed it out of my hair, looked down…
It was a young mummified dead lizard (green anole). It must have fallen from the light fixture above at precisely the right moment.
My parents left our porch light on all night so we had a spider who built a web in front of it to catch the insects attracted by the light. Every morning, the spider dismantled the web and rebuilt it every night.

The spider like the snake are our friends, eating those insects and mammals that invade our places to live.
