For some, reading and books were an escape or an adventure, an education, but for young Sadie they were nothing more than fortification for the prison walls that were her life, and only detailed all the things she would never know, could never have.
Delta Dawn, what’s that flower you have on? Could it be a faded rose from days gone by? And what’s that stickpin holding it in, cleverly slipped through your ocular socket? I do like the “Dragonfly Reading” decorative finial, however. And naturally the Read Read Read message, while unimaginatively repetitious, is laudable.
All in all, a solid, if lame, effort and a worthy addition to the Froglandia Museum of Cartoonish Art Collection, which has not burned down in a disastrous ffire of late. Do they speak a Portuguese dialect in Froglandia also? Just curious….

In old style SF (and modern movies) they had BEMs. Bug-Eyed Monsters.
