The zero would be the type that would enjoy Gorrell’s inane toon from yesterday.

Believe it or not, we’re gradually getting better at this, folks.

Let’s see: A pictorial flyby of now de-planetized Pluto, running a probe INSIDE Saturn’s rings, multiple probes on Mars, Comet and Asteroid chasing, and soon we’ll see a probe (Parker) four times closer to the Sun than Mercury is.

Hubble’s replacement is in the works, and we have pretty solid evidence for hundreds of planets outside our own Solar System. Gravitational wave detectors give us early warning when something BIG has happened somewhere.

    We’re just getting started.

I have every reason to believe that my children will see a chain of video repeaters extending out at least one light-year, giving us a 3-d real-time view of the local region of this spiral arm of the Milky Way.

I think its probably a mediocre film (aren’t most of them, at best) and it desperately trying to create a fake controversy to increase visibility and sales. I’ll check it out when its on the TV in 4 months.

Most of us who lived during that time, don’t need a movie version. It was our childhood dream to be a part of NASA. But, so rare is that opportunity, that I’ve only met one person who actually worked there.

I remember the moon landing. My family was visiting in Wisconsin. The thing that sticks with me is that it was the last time I saw my paternal grandmother. Who planted what where has little meaning to me.

NASA’s fantastic achievement representing our country and people plan to boycott the movie as the flag “planting” isn’t shown. How short sighted can one be?

By the way, the main focus of the Movie is the life of Neil Armstrong, NOT the moon landing itself.

The people upset about Chazelle’s decision not to show the planting of the flag in “First Man” are likely NOT the same people upset about Chazelle making a movie about Jazz without any prominent black characters…

You can choose to view the moon landing as an incredible scientific and engineering achievement (one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind and all that jazz) or you can view it through a hyper-nationalistic lens that considers the planting of the American flag to be the crowning achievement, rather than the landing itself. I choose the former.

While we should cherish and protect the one habitable planet for our posterity, instead we allow the power hungry to create artificial boundaries and self-defeating patriotism for those feeling more entitled than others.

The Republicans will burn their sneakers in protest of Obama taking the American flag off of the moon.

“A giant leap for Mankind” was one of the most inspiring quotes in history. The flap over the flag, either on the football field, or in this movie, makes me think too many people are ready and willing to accept a new Nuremburg rally (Trump’s having plenty of those), or Auschwitz. Build a wall.
