As I know many of you have, I’ve read the first two volumes of “Walt & Skeezix” (and am eagerly awaiting the arrival of volume 3). Just want to pause here to commend the gentle genius of this strip. It’s enduring charm and majesty lies in its sweet, simple, understated brilliance in capturing the essence of everyday life, with characters of real depth and substance. It’s hard to remember they are not “real,” because, quite honestly, they have become real to me. And I love them.
You’ve got some catching up to do. There are SIX volumes of “Walt & Skeezix” already out, and volume 7 is due next February. As well, there is also a volume called “Walt Before Skeezix”, containing the earliest strips before the arrival of Skeezix, and three volumes of Sunday strips in color.
Somebody left out the anniversary logo. And showing only the bottom of Rachel is probably a good idea. Although her look HAS been PCed down a little for today’s sensitive readers who believe that if history offends anyone, just change it.
Does anyone know when Pal left the strip? I’ve read most of the new volumes but he’s still in the ones out so far. I assume they phased him out in the late 30s/early 40s. And did the strip show him actually passing away, or simply not appearing anymore?

This comic got a lot of scorn in its first couple of weeks. That seems to have dissipated.
