    “Pareto optimal” only means a sort of equilibrium….

    Where to make one thing better you have to take from another.

    Like… if supposedly paying workers more takes resources that would be buying more inventory….

    or buying more inventory would take money that should go to the workers.

     

    I’ve never heard it applied to a person.

    Like… just to riff on the idea…

    maybe she wishes he could go back to college to get a better job… but then he couldn’t work for four years.

    Or.. he ought to exercise to get bigger muscles but then he’d need a new wardrobe?
