For his birthday Ensign Kenny gets a card: "Sorry to hear about your day. Hope it never happens again. – Yours B.R.

This gag has been used on The Big Bang Theory and Murphy Brown, and [I think] The Golden Girls.

It posits that he doesn’t read a card before he signs it. Not surprisingly.

It will continue to happen as sure as spleens grow on Winky.

No, that’s not going to be awkward at all!

Don’t forget, this is actually one of Kenny’s better mishaps.

He didn’t die this time – Brewster’s wish does make sense.

Hope his spleen is ok!

Did they have curtains on the Enterprise?

Somehow that turned oddly appropriate. And I’m sure he will have many, many more. He’s pretty accident prone.

Well he seemingly has an endless supply of spleens.

Even a space guy can reuse all the ageing gags from olden times… this one has probably been used already in the age of the Roman Empire. I often felt, while watching Star Trek or DS9, as if I had seen the story already on TV years ago, e.g. in Bonanza. Later I found out that I’d read that already with La Fontaine or Aesop.

Stairs? Window curtains? Plaster to heal broken legs? In future spaceships travelling through space? Fascinating (or was it illogical?)

Gee, I thought he had a great fall. No, that was Humpty-Dumpty.

This happened to me in real life. My dad died when I was 16. My homeroom class got me a sympathy card. One girl signed it “Get well soon.”
