Snow precipitates the dirt and pollutants out of the air and the clear air and sunshine bouncing off of white snow does generate enough ozone to smell it
Living as I do, in Wisconsin, I for one welcome the lessening of winter due to global warming! I am getting too old to chase a non powered snow shovel.
“… aroma of freshly raked leaves.” Obviously lives somewhere they haven’t burned leaves in his memory. I appreciate efforts to preserve the environment, but I also miss that sign of autumn.
When we lived in North Dakota when it would snow, the snow in the driveway would melt and the freeze overnight. After a day or two, the driveway was covered in about two inches of solid ice. It had to be broken up and shoveled off the driveway.

Snow does have a smell. I guess you need to grow tall enough not to breathe in car exhausts to get it.

Some types of snow do have a nice smell. Propagandists tell us that Eskimos have 100 words for snow, then they usually list them…in English.

Sometimes you know it is going to snow because you can smell it in the air.

I go from grass mowing to leaf mowing. If my wife wants to rake, she’s welcome to it. I just mulch them up.

Snow most definitely has a smell. In fact, you hear people say it all the time ‘It smells like snow’, right before it does.
