Everyone knows real pumpkins are orange. Why does she have to buy a purplish gray gourd and throw off the balance of the universe.

It’s right up there with that ugly turquoise and orange Christmas wrapping paper at Target….

    or completely-blue-decorated trees.

About 25 years ago when I was working retail, somebody decided purple was a Halloween color….

our orange and black store decorations suddenly included purple bats and bows.

Now Trader Joe’s sells a rainbow of pumpkins….

I just saw stark white ones some place, so flat, about 3 feet wide and 6 inches tall, there was just about no room for a face on the side.

    Is tradition that horrid?

But as I recall,Janis is always the abstract modernist of the family.

    Not me!

I think it’s supposed to be teal colored……for homes that give out non food treats for allergic children.

Well, I’ll say this about a grey pumpkin – it’s going to make some awful looking pies.

I’m quite fond of the original orange but do like all of the different colored gourds being offered now.

I’ve got a very purple pumpkin, custom made. I was with a group preaching the virtues of safe boating at the Illinois State Fair a few years back and discovered a group from SIU demonstrating glass blowing. After picking up a couple of pieces (they were only taking donations for supplies), I saw them using a mold to make pumpkins, upon which discovery I asked if they could make a purple glass pumpkin. They said the had not tried it, but would later in the day, and said to come back the next day as it would need to sit in the annealing oven overnight. They had actually made three, one cracked, one had a slightly rough base, and I made a handsome donation for the other one. Still have it. They did ‘sell’ the other one, too and decided to put purple pumpkins in their repertoire. 8^)

It’s blue, actually. Blue pumpkins do exist, but I don’t think gray ones do.
