I still don’t understand why they call it that.

When I hear the term “rattle”, I picture a “shooka shooka” sound like a rattlesnake, not choking or gurgling.

Hobbes is wearing a black hat – does this mean that Calvin is the good guy and the bad guy wins? I can’t imagine Calvin as the good guy.

I never understood this strip when I read it in one of my C&H books. What I mean is what’s a death rattle.

Maybe you’re wondering how translators handled this pun. In Swedish, Hobbes said “It’s to accompany your death-shaking rythmically.” It’s no funnier in Swedish, but you can’t really translate this sort of thing.

I’m pretty sure you can’t play “cowboys” anymore, or “shoot” someone with your finger, even in play, with out triggering someone’s response. Fortunately, my grandchildren and I can still “battle” with foam rubber “swords”.

Now Hobbes just needs to figure out how to get Calvin in a diaper and crib, and the great prank is complete!

    O. M. G. I am gagging. I’m saving a copy of today’s strip and then having it professionally printed and framed.

What, nobody watched westerns growing up? Or Mel Brooks making fun of westerns?

OMG!! They are playing guns! They are pointing fingers, cut those fingers off. Ban fingers. (They have just about eliminated water guns and cap pistols. A friend of a friend is a member of Moms something or other and she has been contacting stores begging them to quit selling water pistols and cap guns. Sigh.

One of the multitude of C&H classics. A horrible pun with a prop? Too cool for words. This strip is really shaking me up!

This reminds me of many years ago while standing in line at McDonald’s. There were two young boys in line who appeared to not know each other. The one about 3 or 4 years old held up his hand like Hobbs to ‘shoot’ the other boy a few places in line ahead of him. The other boy who was about a year younger promptly fell onto the floor like Calvin and assumed the role of being dead. It was memorable.
