I know the Winco brand oat cereal is cheaper the the General Mills brand Cheerios, but the former doesn’t taste the same as the latter.

Alice has the ‘turn of phrase’ proficiency of a literate movie critic.

Growing up I loved oatmeal over any and all breakfast cereals. I was definitely a strange kid.

Maaaahm! You’re supposed to transfer the El Cheapo brand to the name brand box! Of course, any kid as verbose as Alice will suspect & figure it out anyway!

What is this thing about raisins, I love them.

Raisins and marshmallows. Two things that should never be in cereal.

Ah, venerable oatmeal threat. Failing that, try raisin toast.

Donald Glover did a monologue about how his mother acceded to her kids’ plea to buy name-brand Cocoa Puffs – then she mixed it into their usual generic bagged cereal at a ratio of about 1:8. His depiction of himself crying as he ate the cereal is classic sad/hilarious.

Keep the old box and drop the new cereal into it. She’ll notice it’s different, but not complain as much. Especially if you offer the lumpy oatmeal/Cream of Wheat.
