The news deliberately leaves out all the good stuff in the world because they know that negativity tends to get more attention.

Don’t hate Dana for getting political. People are trying to pass laws that say she doesn’t qualify as a person. You’d be desperate too. If you value basic humanity, VOTE!

Nowadays, there’s constantly a reason to be sad…and mad and just downright irritated.

Marigold must really be empathizing with Phoebe’s pain. Phoebe said something positive about unicorns and Marigold still looks sad.

Good news is no news, they say. It’s even worse when the bad things are no longer reported. That means they aren’t news anymore, but commonplace. There are good things out there, like people helping their fellow man, and fighting injustice.

If only bad people and bad news were as rare as unicorns.

This is true. Thereby, the world needs more unicorns.

Did she see the three crimes that happened all in the same week, two weeks ago?

Welcome to a world of hate Phoebe. Yes it is pitiful. We have been divided into two groups who are expected to hate each other. Really sucks.

I’m sad about it too, Phoebe. The capacity for cruelty that people have, and their loathing of people who aren’t just like them, breaks my heart. I voted my values — compassion for immigrants, health care for everyone, equal rights no matter your gender identity or sexual orientation — and am proud to have done so.

It’s worth noting that the news is generally upsetting to people across the political spectrum. Even when you like a development, you have to deal with the people who don’t like it.

And now Pheobe shows Marigold what the current “leaders” are up to and she be like: https://youtu.be/hf_-1WT4cd8There are days where I wish that there was a species reassignment surgery.

You’ve got a word missing in the first panel – surely it should be “this is different”, not “this different”?

I’m a little surprised that Phoebe seemed surprised about things going on in the world today. Not that she shouldn’t be upset, I’d just pegged her as having some, even if only kid-appropriate, knowledge of the goings on around the country/world

I watched the news at Phoebe’s age. Saw Lee Harvey Oswald killed on national tv. Been following it for some time. Maybe I am different but I still follow the news generally on other mediums to get at the real news. Children generally shouldn’t watch the news, just the good happy things they run.

2 years later, and sadly little has changed, except for a global pandemic and a couple years closer to extermination by climate change. At least trump’s not in power until 2024 probably.

Phoebe shouldn’t read CNN.com; neither should her father, for that matter.
