Tracy and the MCU are on the job. Here’s what we learned today:
1. If Vortex still has drug pushers, he’s hiding them well.
2. Tracy didn’t find any drugs when he searched Vortex’s premises, but we know that Vortex expected him and probably moved anything he may have had there or else didn’t have it in the first place.
3. Devil denied any free-will participation in the kidnapping. She may not have been charged with anything.
4. Somewhat surprisingly, Tracy is just now getting around to checking for an arrest record on Vortex. Didn’t he already ask Vortex about his mob background?
Why didn’t they see if Vortex had a police record before they confronted him for the first time, and in the 21st century, wouldn’t those records be kept in a computer database?
Yes, they should’ve checked before this. And, yes those records should be computerized, with a junior member of the MCU doing the checking on an old terminal. And, isn’t Liz the cheif of the department, now? If I’m right, why is Tracy giving HER orders?
A real surprise to me is that despite all the super hi tech gadgets, they are still using reams of paper. Why on earth is DT opening a file drawer instead of sitting down at a computer and accessing state, federal and even interpol data bases?
I have to agree (implicitly) with Neil Wick; today’s strip clarifies the status of Piotr Volkov’s drug operation and refocuses the MCU on that bit of unfinished business. Meanwhile, Vitamin Flintheart and Peter Pitchblende define Volkov’s current focus (though rather hazily). Gradually, the plot may eventually wrap itself together.
On a side note, the existence and use of paper files in an age of more advanced technology is not at all surprising. Digitizing old files is not a top budget item for many bureaucracies, both public and private….
