I think of the banning straws is a bit of an action of a nanny state. However, I can see some sense in the ban when I consider the issue of litter and cleanup. If people would clean up after themselves instead of just throwing their trash on the ground, the litter would not be an issue.

my county is banning plastic straws. Paper will still be legal. It is a silly rule that makes people think that they are at least doing something.
