Did you do that today, or did you have it ready for when the time came for it?

He lived to be 95 and was still healthy up until the end. I’d call that a good life.

I met him in Dallas a couple of years ago. He was such a great man! He took the time to talk to me and my son and even shoot some Spider hands with him. He was so gracious! He will be missed

Mr. Stan Lee got around. He is even the father of the young man in Super Hero 6, the one who plays the 3-eyed fire breathing kaiju. And made appearances in nearly every Marvel movie there is.

By the time I started reading comics, Stan was more ambassador than active creator. But I glommed onto those rich, diverse characters; their battles – both won & lost – reached an introverted kid struggling to find his path in the world. Far from just being entertainment, I found inspiration as the X-Men fought for equality against prejudiced humans and angry mutants alike, as Spider-Man balanced his wants & desires with the enormous responsibility foisted upon him by his abilities, as new heroes rose to save the day even as their own lives were collapsing around them.

Stan (he was so avuncular I feel comfortable addressing him simply as “Stan”) helped create a wonderful universe that entertained billions. I doubt there will ever be another creator with his reach, with such an infectious love of comics and one who helped define the American comic and superhero. I never met Stan but I am eternally grateful for his work. RIP, Stan. So long…and thanks for all the word balloons!

Stan Lee created an entire universe. And now, he has become one with it. I can see him now, with his wife inspiring his creativity even further.

Can you imagine the comic sales in Heaven now…?
