That would not be tolerated today. Here in the Pensacola area a few days ago, a high school student was arrested for assault & battery for doing a very similar crime that seriously injured the victim student & sent him to the hospital.

Hey, I would have loved to have someone beat me up in gym class. It probably would have gotten me out of it! I hated gym. Unless we were using the parachute. Or doing some kind of exercises with a record. Or the coordination exercise where we were tapping on the floor, tapping together and swapping them with a partner.

Calvin, that statement is what you might call a “Moe D’oh!”…

Is there an episode where Calvin’s parents find out about these “fights” in school?

As much as it bothers people to see physical bullying in the comics, I was very amused by the last panel, for its sheer impossibility.

I just love a good bully beats kid joke.

Sometimes Calvin curbs his acerbic snark around Moe and even can use his brain against the brute. Other times Moe pounds his little butt.
