Well, since they can’t see land, and none of them can navigate by the clouds and birds and currents, as the Polynesians did, it probably doesn’t make a lot of difference.
So, why are white-shirt guy and green-shirt guy both pointing at blue-shirt guy instead of engaging in an (insert marginalized group name here) firing squad?
Eh. People don’t know squat about postmodernism; they’ve just heard Jordan Peterson say the word and think it sounds smart. (He doesn’t understand it, either, but understanding isn’t really important to him. He’s basically an Ivory Tower Alex Jones.)
It looks to me like white and green are largely in agreement, while blue is the odd man out. W and G have room for compromise, while B is in the clear minority. But, I suppose, like our congress, where polarity reigns, compromise is the dirty word.
How might this behavior be rational? Well, here’s a conjecture. Each of the 3 now knows there are 2 others lost at sea. If they head in 3 different directions, the one who arrives at land first can tell the rescue team about the other 2. BUT, if they were all to head in the same direction, and picked the wrong one, they’re all screwed. So this approach might actually be the most sensible one.
This scenario reminds me of a joke from my youth, but my fellow old farts will get it.
A little-known fact from the dark days of WW2 is that John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, and Richard J. Daley all served in the US Navy in the Pacific theater and were in fact all aboard the same frigate when it was sunk by the Japanese. By chance, they found themselves sharing a lifeboat. Taking stock of the inventory, they realized that they had only enuf provisions for a single person to survive until he reached the nearest friendly island. So, as staunch American believers in democracy, each man gave a speech as to why he should be the one to get the boat while the other 2 jumped overboard. Then they voted. The results were Kennedy, 1; Nixon, 1; and Daley, 243.
Post Modern Consensus indeed. It’s every man/country for itself. “Let’s all be nationalist!” said the Marx identified pre-communist capitalists. Funny how they behave exactly as Marx said they would, and then call others who advocate for a merit Capitalism with a safety net: Marxists; when it is they headed for the communist cliff!
