    In Tibetan Buddhism, the dead are sometimes chopped into pieces and left at a vulture feeding site.

    The spiritual explanation is about the impermanence of all things.

    The practical reason is the lack of firewood for cremation or land for cemeteries in the high mountain reaches of Tibet.
