The word of a bird should never be unheard, For the word of a bird is unsullied and profound. Yet the word of a bird, though honest, is be-fowled, By the nature of the beast and the cheep-ness of his sound.
Eden Colony has apparently been safe and stable for some time now. The kids haven’t experienced any of the Topsider dangers that various Endtown (and Unity) residents have endured, thus they’re skeptical of Chic’s stories.
Even if he embroidered the tales a little when telling them to his classmates, he’s still had genuine adventures (and the horror of his past at Unity Colony) that they can’t comprehend as the truth because it’s so far outside their experience.
Safety seems to be the key word in Eden and these kids are secure in it. In addition to the “don’t play with matches” poster in the classroom, there’s that “PLAY SAFE!” sign on the wall of whatever room they’re in at the moment.
I’m just gonna throw this out there… What the heck is IN that sandwich? That kid can’t even move it one inch away from his mouth, while talking. It’s gotta be something amazing!
Either that, or he’s aiming to be the first morbidly obese person of the Post-Apocalypse.
Hi, all! Just a heads-up from my publisher: “We will be taking preorders for Book 4 until Sunday 12/16 at 4PM Pacific time (12/17 00:00 UTC) for delivery in mid-to-late January 2019. We were originally hoping to have the book available in time for Christmas, but that is no longer possible, so we have reopened preorders for an extended period.”
My fault.. Sorry.. The cover art on the proof wasn’t centered properly and I couldn’t imagine living the rest of my life obsessing over whether or not I could have had it straightened out before going to press. #OCD
I wonder how much of the Wally party’s journey is common knowledge. Wally and Kirbee would have given some account of their journey to whomever let them in, wouldn’t they? Any information concerning the lands outside of Eden would be useful. And what of Wally’s dittos? Wally was building simple machines out of them. He could conjure some kind of digger.
The little mouse boy is the cutest character to date. He seems pretty smart too. I wish we could keep him! Like somehow he gets taken along accidentally. He would be a backup for Chic’s truth. Chic is too full of himself and would benefit from another kid his age who is smarter. I was an only and it ism hard to know how to act if you are just around grownups.
Another “They didn’t believe me” story: One of the Doolittle Raiders of World War II was captured by the Japanese and returned after the war, when he said he was one of them, they locked him up in the mental ward of an army hospital. It took Jimmy Doolittle coming down to yell at them in person to get the poor guy out.
On a completely unrelated note: In the years I’ve been voting for Endtown on the “topwebcomics” site (y’all still do that too, right??) I FINALLY got an Endtown character to vote on!!! (I don’t sign in, so I have to select 1 of 3 characters to prove I’m not a bot). Yep, Gustine was the choice today! I vote every day for this finest of strips, and hope you do too! :3
Hmmm. I wonder if these kids are first-generation mutants, or if they’re 100% mutant, born right here in the real world, and if there are any unforeseen side effects or logistics to such procreation

Seems the other kids are fairly level-headed.

I once mentioned in a school class that on my last family trip, we went up to the top of the St. Louis Arch. Nobody believed me. People are idiots.

Bizarre thought: One must go on an adventure to prove he or she had once been on an adventure?

Are those tailfeathers or an untucked shirt behind Chic?

I hope this mouse stays mouse-like (or shrew) and doesn’t transform into another almost-bunny. ;)
The detailing on her ears tells me she will.

There are only two possible outcomes of this little adventure…
