As of yesterday’s discussion of readings of ‘A Christmas Carol’, I had never heard the Jonathan Winters version. They played it on NPR last night: a most impressive read, especially since he did all the characters (except for Mrs. Cratchit), each with their own distinctive voice.
It’s said that Irving Berlin wrote that he was dreaming of a white Christmas while he was in Southern California or Arizona, but I think he could have written it from just about anywhere. For all its wintry associations, you’d have to live pretty far north for Christmas to be reliably blanketed in snow. And the way things are going, pretty far south to have it be reliably snow-free.
No snow anywhere near the Frazz Factory this year. And while I don’t mind shoveling, I’m fine without it. I can dig not digging.
If you jog, bike or walk on a regular basis, the Christmas morning jaunt is magical. People are fast asleep, when, especially on a weekday the streets should be nuts. And let’s face it, it’s Christmas, there’s magic in the air (not God magic). It really seems like everything out there is laid out just for you. Very special morning in December.

Very nice and accurate timing but, technically it’s a “waning gibbous moon”.
