As a kid I loved playing cowboys and Indians. And cops and robbers. Had two cap guns; a 1911A1 Colt (Like my brother used in WW2) and a 44 Colt with silver bullets (Like the Lone Ranger) My, my how things have changed. Now there are video games like Call of Duty, DeathLoop, Aliens vs Predator,…..etc.
Toy guns are outlawed but kids are playing with guns on their video games where the action is real-life explosions, blood ’n guts flying and death all over. I think they would be better off playing outside with cap guns and just using their not-so-vivid imaginations!.
It’s pretty bad taste to run a cartoon of children playing with guns in the wake of yet another round of children killed by guns. I know the cartoon is from the 1950s, but that doesn’t really make it better.
26 shots? Is there a hand-held gun, besides a Tommy gun, that has a 26 round magazine? Better yet, is there a pistol of any kind that fires that many rounds? I counted twelve shots in the first panel and fourteen in the second, that’s twenty-six before reloading .
I don’t remember anyone “reloading” when I was a kid. It was always “Bang, Bang, Bang” etc. And if we got picky about the number of shots someone “fired” it was always “I reloaded when you weren’t looking”. Or some load like that.

If I were young, I would want the old way back. Lucy must have a 26 shooter.

Spock: “You realize, the aim will be crude.”
Kirk (in pain): “I…don’t care if you hit the broadside of a barn, just…hurry…”
Spock: “Capt., why should I care to aim at such a structure?”
