“Alternative facts” (Kellyanne Conway); “The truth isn’t the truth” (Rudy Giuliani); “What you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening” (Comrade TRUMPovich McPutinpuppet).

    “Alternative science.”

CONservatives depend on keeping people uninformed, misinformed, gullible and stupid as the only way to keep them compliant.

There is a war on facts and science and education by those who depend on an ignorant, uneducated voting populace to keep them in office.

We see it in the attacks on climate science, evolution and immunizations.

Got healed by advances in medical technology? Don’t give credit to the doctors and those who invent medical cures — give praise and thanks to an invisible friend in the sky whose “miracles” seem to be more effective as science advances.

We see it in the amazing resurgence of people who are seriously arguing that the earth is flat and not spherical and that the earth, not the sun, is the center of the solar system.

Deniers of climate science, evolution, immunizations or a spherical earth are just the latest incarnation of Flat Earth superstitious ignorance.

Trying to be “fair and balanced” is false “equivalence.”

There is nothing remotely approaching balance between climate scientists and climate deniers (most funded by big energy corporations).

Alternate Science lets you create your own little world. But you can’t make it big enough for anyone else but you.

We know that you believe that you are sure that you understand what you think we said yesterday but we’re not convinced that you realize that how you interpreted today what you thought you heard will not be what we mean tomorrow.

No wonder getting to Alt-Science is so difficult. The knob(s) on the two thick short planks are out of reach.

This department is already at work in India! Read up a bit on what went on at a “Scientific Convention” here a couple of weeks ago. Racial supremacism and religious pseudo-science is not confined to white Christians nowadays! We in Asia are up with you!!

Sign matches the logic that passes for governance in D.C.

In trying to describe Buttercup, I flashed back to a song I think perfectly suits his approach to logical thinking and should give him a clue about how much he is valued. Here is one version of National Lampoon’s 1972 album. The song is Deteriorata and says it all, especially the ending. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA7383noev8

Back in the 1930’s there was such a thing as “Nazi Science.” I was unlike real science in that it ignored facts contrary to its conclusions and made up facts to support them. Today we call this Republican Science.

Sad. The United States used to lead the world in technology. Now, all that matters is money. We deny global climate change not because it’s false, but because denying it is in the financial interest of polluting industries.

So now Europe has internet speed four times faster than the United States, high-speed rail, and they are developing inexhaustible energy sources while we refuse to stop digging coal out of the ground. Because our national philosophy is now PROFIT. If something doesn’t make a profit, we think it’s not worth doing.

If we thought then the way we think now, we would never have gone into space or built the Interstate Highway System.

Agree with every word you wrote. Amazing how some people take everything at face value. They do no research of their own. They listen to just one point of view. As for those flat earth people….if only they COULD fall off the edge

I think we didn’t have a good choice in the last election, but when we’re faced with a rhino hide like Putin, we need one too. We’ve got too many enemies right now. We’re getting threats from China, Iran, and North Korea. Russia’s threatening the Crimea and other places, but not us, at least for now. England isn’t much of a backstop anymore. They don’t even have enough navy for another Falklands war. For now, Russia makes a better friend than enemy.

Oh the commentators here are so enlightened. (insert eye roll here). They are the pinnacle of all knowledge and have reached a evolved state of Know-it-allism, sharing their thoughts with us, forgiving us for not having asked for their enlightenment in the first place. We are lowly and ignorant and to be pitied.

Got a suggestion for you DD Wiz, next time you or one of your family have a medical emergency insist they take you to a hospital with no religious affiliation what so ever and while your at let the EMT’s know you don’t want any God fearing people to treat you. I’ve grown weary of your pseudo intellectual rants, do us all a favor and retreat to hole you crawled out of.

Not long ago, I read that an increasing number of scientists doubt that there was a Big Bang. Scientific findings routinely update or change; it’s in the nature of scientific inquiry. For example, pick a food, any food. This week, you may read a ‘scientific’ study saying that particular foodstuff is bad for your health. Next week, a new ‘scientific’ study will reverse course and assure you that food item is good for you. Never be set on the notion that you are sure of ’reality’.

The real-life model for today’s parody is an actual governmental agency — sheltered within the walls of the otherwise pro-science National Institutes of Health — called the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. Needless to say, it was put there (and continues to be funded) by politicians, not scientists.

Q: What do you call alternative medicine that’s been scientifically demonstrated to be effective?

    A: Medicine.
