Some people just like gift-giving. I know that when I was working and had money, I bought presents for everyone I knew on every occasion. Some people told me not to. Why do people want to spoil the fun?
I put 10% of my income into savings, I paid my bills, I bought myself a lot of books, and I gave a lot of people fun stuff on special occasions. Good times!
