Twitter does not attract me. The way it warps language is downright aggravating.

Texting - the death of the English language.

Wonderful. You do an amazing job of bridging the Ted Baxter generation and Zits. Keep that cutting edge and ignore the fogies.

TL;DR

Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and all the other lame “social networks” are just pathetic attempts to get attention. The fact that they are so popular is pretty sad.

Our English friends would say WE are it’s death, wild. I suspect Spanish will be the death of it here before too long.

The comic is as annoying as the real thing. Congrats, Gary! Problem is: no one likes either one.

Sandfan, I’m not so sure about your opinion on facebook et al…thanks to facebook, I’ve reconnected with friends I hadn’t seen in years, found some long-lost family members, and made some really good new friends too (yes, I DID meet them in person….lol), so for me, facebook has been a blessing. I guess it all depends how you use it…

Self absorption at its finest. A good commentary on our modern society.

These illustrate a mechanism: a person twittling on his little device, sending his thoughts to others… it’s fascinating, addicting. For some. I think you sort of have to have a hole in your soul for it to fill. I guess that’s Trudeau’s point here… a warning to us.

Finally, a cartoonist who understands the phases of the moon and when you would see a crescent in the sky, and which side is lit up! Thank you GT!

Now, however, they are the commercial and political marketplace of conversation. For the world. No going back.

Just now I was breathing in except now I’m breathing out. Not quite sure which is more important. Will get back to you later on this.

I agree with paul345 on the facebook point. Facebook is the only way I get to see pictures of my two nieces (and yes, I do get to see them occasionally in person). Given they live quite a distance away from me I don’t get to see them in person very often.

Internet social network sites, texting, tweeting all are showcases for exhibiting the breadth and depth of humanity’s shallowness.

Twitter has a place in the world, for sure. It is not only about celebrities. Overnight field trips for schools is an example of a great use. We have all seen Twitter being used effectively in places like Iran as well. Twitter can be a great resource.

Re: Panel 3 Roland needs to read today’s Crimestopper’s Textbook.

@pappyfiddle; it’s not whether what he says is true or not, but whether it’s worth saying at all.

And @junco49 gives the best example of “not worth saying” I’ve ever seen - unless you’re a zen master. I award @junco49 the Zen Master trophy for the most irrelevant twitter - for this week.

Roland certainly has a way with words. It IS Roland, right?

Not a tweeter, not a booker, not much of anything at all. Just maintaining 64 servers (14 virtual with Hyper-V) and a couple of thousand computers so that my peeps can tweet and twit and book.

Sigh…

It’s gotten to the point that when I see Roland tweeting, I just go to the next comic. This one I started to read, and regretted it instantly. What a waste.

“nighthawks”: you have to put more aluminum foil around your head. It worked for me. I can see the internet real good, now! What nurse? Time for my “happy pill” already? Well, ok.
