    “Touching bottom?”

It’s disgusting enough that you’re doing it, Tracy. Do you really need to talk about it too?

What does scanning your receipt for errors have to do with stopping crime? That thing should be renamed to “Paranoid Old Fussbudget’s Textbook.”

Not even a hint of progress. Anyone who reads only the Sunday strips would have no idea what’s going on here, because there’s no mention in the Sunday blocks of how the car landed in the water.

On Dec. 23 and 24, Tracy was told by the cop, who was holding the school crossing stop sign, that the water was too deep and when tracy went on his way, the cop said if he gets into trouble, they can’t help him.

On January 1, that cop is talking to Liz and says the weather is so bad, they can’t do anything.

Sam says the storm is getting greater.

Liz says she will send help. So Liz plans to send people out for a rescue in impossible weather conditions.

What about those decoy cars. Where are they. Did they reach their destinations OK???

The Sunday strip didn’t bring us any new information.

Panel #3, Thick says he won’t let Mordred drown. Three panels later, he says he should let Mordred sink. Does Locher understand the connection between drowning and sinking?

Yesterday, Horn Hair’s horn was on the right side of her face. Today it’s on the left. Whichever way she faces, it’s always on the side away from the reader. The work must keep her hairmesser busy.

The only hint of action is in the last panel. If it’s too dangerous to go outside, that’s what these morons will do.

I’ll have to second Tracy’s comment about reaching bottom. Nothing more to say about today’s garbagefest.

Y’all are missing the big reveal in panel 2 - look how the water in New Street Corner Lake is holding itself back! If Dick would just look around, he would surely find Charlton Heston dressed in a robe and holding a power-filled staff to part the waters. Surely ol’ Moses will be able to help him out of this mess!

Ernie Bushmiller explains the “four flat tires.”

“One flat tire is just a flat tire. Two is a pair of flat tires. Three flat tires conveys some flat tires. Four flat tires is one flat tire more than is needed to convey some flat tires. It’s ridiculous. It’s the sort of thing Dick Locher would do. Gad, I hate him so.”

Okay, so maybe Spiegelman made that last part up, but it makes a point.

Moses supposes his toeses are roses, but Moses supposes erroneously…

In stark contrast to Queensland rescue teams, Locher shows his police as being too afraid to go out in flooding conditions and render assistance, even if it is for an idiot like Tracy.

What happened to the car? It looks like a truck in panel #3. If everyone is being warned to stay indoors, how will they get their donuts delivered?

Tracy, you’re not safe. Neither are you, Mordred.

That’s because you’re pawns in the hands of Locher the Merciless. He’s placed you in a street-corner lake, in the middle of the worst storm of the century with no shelter and no help coming. Locher seems to be trying for Ming the Merciless’ job. Latest statement heard from Locher, and I quote: “MWA-HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!”

Technical note: For those who put a lot of stock in auto safety glass, save it. Side windows are relatively easy to break, thieves with rocks do it all the time to steal radios and other odds and ends out of cars. What makes the side window glass “safe” is the way it breaks— with rounded edges rather than the sharp, jagged points that regular home window glass will break into. That way, in an accident you’re less likely to be cut to ribbons by the breaking windows.

The windshield is different. It’s laminated with plastic, so it won’t break into pieces easily and will resist you flying through it in an accident. Tracy would need a sledge hammer and room to swing the hammer to have a hope of breaking the windshield.

Didya see Mordred’s facial expression as Thick tells him he’s hit bottom. For God’s sake, Thick, Mordred KNOWS it! For once, I feel sorry for the bad guy. They didn’t do him any favors by assigning the Buffoon of the PD to transfer him!

Tigger - that happened to us last summer at night when I hit a deer, Big Buck. I hit him dead on as if he had a bullseye drawn on his side. He slide up over the cars hood and hit the windshield before sliding off.

I know a woman who hit a deer and it’s rear end crashed thru the windshield. To add insult to injury, the deer pooped on her.

NightGaunt49, I have doubts about wrapping the chain around the hand and punching the window. That sounds like a quick way to break the fingers.

Thick should have a gun. I’d try shooting out the window. Failing that, I’d brace myself against part of the car and try to kick out a window.

Pity Mordred didn’t have his hands free. He could have grabbed Thick and used his head for a battering ram.

If everyone is being told to stay indoors, will the Sheriff/Chief still stay at his post to keep people from driving into the intersection and drowning?

More to the point, will Mordred’s associates remain indoors? They are very naughty and might choose to ignore the official warnings that bad weather is bad for you. They probably wouldn’t even put on their all-weather gear or stop for coffee and doughnuts.

And wouldn’t it be funny if Mordred’s minions hacked into Weather Central’s computers and issued a forecast so horrific that it frightened the local cops into staying home?
