There’s a tombstone in Tombstone AZ “Here lies George Johnson, hanged by mistake 1882. He was right, we was wrong, but we strung him up and now he’s gone”
This reminds me of the U. of Arkansas professor who was misidentified online as a white supremacist. He got hate mail for months just because he looked like some guy who attended the rally in Charlottesville.
Haha looking at the comments right above me, the Left hates “FAUX” and the Right hates the WaPo. Then you have people like me in the middle who wish you all would shut the heck up already and use common sense.
Technology isn’t driving humans crazy. It has amplified and speeded up everything. The speed at which rumors can travel has overwhelmed the reasoning capabilities of humans. Once someone starts getting bombarded by a ‘news’ from multiple sources, it is easy to start believing in it. Also, realize that there are active bad actors who are creating false information for political or financial gains. We are back to lynching and witch-burning on just rumors.
“A lie can run round the world before the truth has got its boots on.” – Terry Pratchett.
“Falsehood will fly, as it were, on the wings of the wind, and carry its tales to every corner of the earth; whilst truth lags behind; her steps, though sure, are slow and solemn” – Thomas Francklin (1787).
Thank you Mr. Pastis for calling out the mob mentality that is tearing us up as a nation. It is time for the propaganda artists to stop feeding the useful idiots.
It is time for people to stop acting like a mob and to start turning on thier brains.
Sadly, our government run schools and the liberal media continues to produce these conditions. The result..ferguson on fire, covington School kids attacked, Twana brawley hoax, Kavanaugh railroaded. All while the elitists protect thier own from the same treatment.
A population that thinks less is easily manipulated by a political class who seek to control them. They turn people into a mob-weapon and point the mob at their political opponents. Classic tactic of collectivists around the world. Alinsky and his mentor Lucifer are very proud.
Here is the question….will Americans wake up before it is too late? Maybe the Smollett fiasco indicates a turning point.
Exactly. Thanks for writing it all out, just in case there’s still some people who don’t know the Covington kids were the victims of haters, not the other way around. Everything you said is spot on.
Libel and slander laws need to be applied to Twitter twits and severe consequences laid down. Let’s start with the original video poster in the Covington Catholic students’ fiasco.

The one’s who believed the story was true in the first place wouldn’t believe the apology anyways. They’ve already heard what they want to hear.
