I recommend stopping by the fbofw site to read the write up Lynn did for this strip. Click on strip fix. Nice story about her and her brother going to the dump with their father.
Thanks for the tip, gene2u, that was a neat story. I keep forgetting to go to her blog if someone here doesn’t remind me.
Doctor Toon, I had that problem too. But I still grew up to be a hoarder. Always was, still am, always will be, much to my husbands chagrin. Every time I let him make me throw something away, I or he will need it next week. Why does he always forget that?
My favorite trip with my dad was to a roadside nursery to buy vegetable plants.
It was back when impatiens had just introduced on the market in our area.
We had a really shady yard. I begged my Dad to try some.
He bought 3 small plants.
They grew so well, he divided them and brought them in to winter over inside. We had those impatiens or their children for 15 years.
We never went on trips to the dump but my sister and I always loved riding around with our parents at Christmas time. One of our favorite things to do as a family at that time of year was drive up and down all the streets in our little town at night, “oooohhhhing” and “aaaaahhhhing” at all the beautiful lights and decorations in peoples’ yards (not to mention the Christmas trees you could see through their living room windows).
Meanwhile, my dog loves going on car rides with us too … until we pull up to the vet’s office or the groomer’s shop then not so much!

Take ‘em through the car wash on the way home. Kids love it :)

Hey, when you’re a kid, getting to go for a ride with Mom or Dad is cool regardless of where you’re going! :)

Even though we have trash service, I kind of miss going to the dump. You never know what you may find there.

He should pick up Jim Gumbo on the way. Then again, Jim is thrilled enough to go to the bins.

I liked going to the dump too. I would go with my Dad so that he didn’t have to do the hard work of unloading the truck, as he was getting older.
One day these 2 guys watched as my Dad leaned on the bed watching me do all the work and one of them said, adder awhile, “I wish I had one of those.”

Yes, our dogs love to ride. A circle around the block is as good as a cross-country excursion.
