“He followed me home, mom! Can I keep him?” – “No, Mordred, you know what happened the last time you tried to turn a cop into a pet!”

More of this lazy silhouette crap.

Gee, Testicle Chin, why did Thick have to go and do it at such a bad time?

So we get a week of, what, Thick insulting Mordred, while he explains that they have to keep moving or they’ll freeze to death in this wind and snow?

This would be the perfect time to stop somewhere out of the wind and build a fire. Then Mordred could tell Thick a story … about the Phantom Crossing Guard, who appears during storms and guides lost travellers into giant puddles. When the lost travellers drown they rise from the water and wander the woods for eternity …

How would they light a fire. Everything they have is soaking wet and I think the wind would blow it out. As for him calling in on his two way, does it work after it has been under water? He didn’t call in before so why should he call in now. Does he know how to work it?

Actually this would be the perfect place to end DT and Locher’s Reign of Error. Then parents could tell their children “–and they’re still out there! So be good or Thick Tracy and his pet psychokiller will eat you!”

Fortunately, it’s not windy and rainy enough to blow off Spacy’s hat.

Is Spacy trying to find the Dog Whisperer to shape up Mordred?

Maybe they find a farm house but will have to sleep in the barn because the famer has a beautiful blonde haired daughter.

When did Thick get the cuffs and chains back on Mordred?

OldTracy, I don’t think Thick is wearing a hat. That’s probably the “natural” shape of his head. Although … what if Locher has shuffled the strips again, and we don’t learn until next week that Frankenstein’s Creature has killed Mordred and turned Thick into his tug-toy?

Emerging from a would be watery grave Now their asses Tracy must save Will he be up to the task Do you even need to ask? Freezing rain and bitter wind Will this travesty never end? Placed in jeopardy by his folly Tracy wishes he had brought his brolly Their sodden clothing squelching as they walk Now is not the time for idle talk Shelter is what must be sought But Thick won’t give it any thought His communication device is on the fritz Well now, isn’t that just the pits Trudging through the dark and stormy night He will treat us to more of this blight On the good name of the great detective At whom we now hurl invective His glory days have long since passed The stories now are just half-assed.

Wonder Warthog, it’s a wonder how you can find so much inspiration in such an uninspired strip.

What will Thick and Mordred find as they stumble through the woods? A yellow brick road? A huge white rabbit in a white vest, being pursued by a little English girl? A blind old hermit living in a dilapidated hut? Or will it be something horrific, like Mark Trail? Maybe this is how the Lost Forest got its name!

    wndrwrthg - Amen!

Weren’t they supposed to be heading across town? How did they end up at Miller’s Crossing? Or did the car float so far down some supposed river that they’re about to run under a bridge with some hillbilly kid on it playing a banjo? Or maybe we’ve switched gears and are now following the wacky adventures of Colonel Kurtz and Captain Willard. Watch your head, Chef!

    Seriously, WTF?

Some time ago the Locher Mess Monster recorded that it was a fifty-two mile trip from Rivertown to Nappingville. We have no idea what route Thick planned to take back to Nappingville after he picked up Mordred; all we know is that one intersection was blocked by flat tires and Thick took an alternate route. At a guess, the new route took him out into the boondocks, where a flooded area was blocked by a deputy. Thick decided to plow through the flood anyway.

I can’t explain how Thick and Mordred got out of the water alive, much less how they lost sight of that deputy. It defies logic. And the idea that the weather is so bad the cops and other services can’t move is insulting. It takes either a hurricane or a massive blizzard to immobilize emergency services.

Locher just has some wrongheaded idea that he can pass off any idiocy as a necessary part of his non-story.

It’s fun to watch the devolution of Testicle Chin’s “Maximum effort.” Last week he was waving his fist and talking about everyone putting on their all-weather gear. Now it’s “Sit by the phone in case Thick calls.” Next week it will be “Has Thick cashed this week’s paycheck?” and a week after that “Let’s check the obituaries.”

Can’t wait ‘till the Board of Inquiry meets. I guess they are waiting to see if the idiot survives before they set their Agenda. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if this entire arc was setup by Napperville to “kill two birds with one stone?” And Thick blew it, as usual.

You know what this story needs? Sound effects! Why was there no sound effect when the idiot jumped his car into the air and landed it in the flooded intersection? A good loud FLOOOOOMM! or something … Locher could spell it differently every time he repeats the scene, for variety….

tcayer, Thick can’t kill Mordred. That would require guts and action.

If Mordred dies, it will have to be “ironic.” That means Locher will do something bizarre, then say “ironically, that is the same way he killed his victims.” (Which may be why Locher hasn’t revealed any details of Mordred’s crimes.)

Maybe now we’ll meet Mordred’s associates, who will declare that they flooded the intersection to catch Thick.

To Mordred’s associates I say: “My condolences on your missing your target. Better luck next time. Try setting up an ambush at the donut shop. But be careful - Napperville’s entire police force (all 3 of them) hang out there. You don’t wanna hurt an innocent cop.”

Still wondering whatever happened to the decoy escorts that were supposed to accompany him on this trek? Well, it will probably continue storming for another week as the two snail-along blindly, and Mordred’s chains will probably rust. He can then use them to bop Tracy on the head and give him blood poisoning.

I haven’t kept up with the comments, but I just wonder if they don’t have weather forecasts in Tracyland which they might have checked before deciding to transport the evil Dr. Mordred in the middle of a monsoon?

Apparently all they have is aftercasts. Locher’s mind is stuck in the Fifties, which didn’t have reliable forecasts.

It’s freezing out there. Thick somehow shed his hat, coat and gloves after the crash–there in one frame and gone in the next, like his beard in the last arc. I wonder how he can keep a grip on Mordred’s chain when he’s soaking wet and the weather is close to freezing (although Locher writes at a pace which will keep the storm going until spring).

I wonder how people who only have Dick Tracy in the papers manage to plow through this. I got to thinking about that while reading the paper this morning. I can’t imagine trying to follow this comic without the comments now, really it seems impossible. Consider watching Thick drive the car into a jump and then dive into the lake—- how anybody could read that and NOT want to say something (probably unprintable) is beyond me. These comments at least allow a place to vent a bit.

Did Jim start out on an all black strip and erase parts to make white? And is that a “big storm” or a tsunami? Oh, and wait until we get the Sunday one. The Crimestoppers that Jim does is so lame.

And you would NOT BELIEVE the time he spends on these and works full-tme. It’s too bad Jim refuses to get a computer a learn some things. Probably save him 20 hours a week so he could watch Law and Order.

In Tues. strip Tracy tries to contact HQ with his wrist gizmo because he has a problem there. It does not work so he comes to the conclusion that the satellites are down. Gee, I wonder if it being under water would have anything to do with it?
