Uhhhh, WHAT happened to Luann’s car? Did she leave it at the Gulag to “mark her place” for Bets to see?
And somehow I don’t think that our heroine is going to be “dateless” much longer. She has way too much to offer, and I believe she’s looking for a little romance. Maybe not with Jack though.
I get the impression that her “next” may be a Handsome Young Man. A sort of cross between Aaron Hill and Tony Rydinger.
Luann has had her own car for quite a while. Perhaps it did crap out at the gulag and Frank is going to give her a ride to pick it up from the shop.
.
As an aside, my wife and I went to the Stockton Asparagus Festival this afternoon, and Barry Williams (Greg) from The Brady Bunch was about 6 feet from where we were eating. Of course, that and 50¢ will get you a postage stamp. It was not the reason we went, he just happened to be there with a few people from Me TV. You know you have made it big when you appear at the Asparagus Festival in Stockton, the armpit of California.
Oh, great. Greg Evans has managed to combine two old jokes into one comic strip: the “teenager is keeping Dad waiting” joke and the “woman is keeping a man waiting because she has to change her outfit and/or make-up (usually both) and it will take an hour, tops” joke. Sigh. . . Why do cartoonists STILL make that kind of joke even in 2019? That is, the “woman is keeping a man waiting” joke?
Since Greg does the Sunday coloring, I suggest he consult Karen and/or Betty next time he’s choosing for Luann’s outfit. No teenager in this hemisphere would be caught dead wearing matching green tops and slacks.
Brady Bunch brings back fond memories for me of a more innocent time for TV. At least none of our parents had to worry about us watching a show like that. And I love the way the parents interacted with the kids!
That was my mom. As a kid, we never got anywhere on time. We’d be all packed up, ready to go, heading out the door and she’s have to use the bathroom. She’d be in there for about 10 minutes. Dad even set the clocks back and we were still late.
Frank should have left 13 and a half minuets ago; if he dd that once or twice Luanne would (hopefully) learn that when you’re bumming a ride with someone you conform to their schedule, they don’t conform to yours.
The famous (mis)quote “Huston, we have a problem” was never spoken by the Apollo 13 crew members. The actual quote was “Huston, we’ve had a problem here”, and was spoken by astronaut Jack Swigert, not commander Jim Lovell, as often stated. Huston asked him to repeat it, and Lovell replied “Huston, we’ve had a problem”.
Don’t know anything about California, maybe in my next life I’ll drop in. But I did know a super nice lady from Stockton who moved with her family to the Midwest and passed away at a very young age. A sad, sad memory, but if she came from Stockton, it can’t be all bad.
As for Luann…….earrings and a touch of makeup and she goes from unremarkable 12 year old in her appearance to a very noticeable young lady. I can just catch the aroma of her scent, “Midnight in the Casbah.”
Luann has to be 19 at the youngest at this point, technically a teenager but not 13. Although sometimes she acts like a child.
If I were Frank I’d just say “I’m going, you can stay home if you’re not ready by now” and then leave. Up to her if she follows him out. Forget this “Hold on” garbage. HE’S doing HER a favor but isn’t obligated if she takes advantage of his good nature.
Time is relative. A week or two ago I saw the Virginia Univ. basketball team take about 15 minutes to run 7.6 seconds off the game clock. Just a little less time than it takes other students to take their tests for them.

Leave without her, as she had her warnings. I did that once with my oldest daughter and she and her younger sisters where always on time after that.

So familiar! The cure would be to do what I did: drive off without your teen after they fail to meet the stated departure time. It worked with us.

Luann has to be 19. She is still a teenager. But she has already been in college for two years!
