Score one for Earl, IMHO. My dad was an avid fisherman. A riverbank or lake shore, his rod and reel, some bait, and he was a happy man. While I never cared much for fishing myself (even as a youngster, it seemed to me the fish were probably pretty happy right where they were), I did enjoy those hours with my dad. Coincidentally enough, my mother would often pack us Oscar Meyer bologna sandwiches. After a good day we would have a spectacular fish fry. Of course, that was back in the last century of the last millennium. And I think I need to add a certain item to my grocery list just for old times’ sake.
They didn’t used to always be mean to each other. I miss back when this strip had actual humor, not just thinking that demeaning someone was funny. What happened?
